At Mike Dowson Ltd we pride ourselves in being one of the leading suppliers of utility civils groundworks in North Yorkshire and beyond. We’ve worked as far north as the Scottish Boarders, as far south as The Wash in Lincolnshire, and as far west as the North Pennines bordering the M6. We specialise in anything that goes in the ground, whether its ductING for a new fibre broadband connection, or electric cables for a new overhead to underground project. This also incudes installing the joint boxes for the telecoms ductING or link boxes for the electric cables. IN ADDITION TO the larger projects, we also carry out maintenance work such as excavating digs to expose damaged cables ready for the Telecoms engineers to repair. We replace damaged joint box frame and covers in footwayS and carriagewayS as well as vergeS. We clear blockages in existing ductING to create room for new cables to be installed, and also provide new duct connections for new build developments.
Our Specialisation
One of our specialities is moleploughing duct or cable directLY inTO THE ground. This involves pulling a plough through the ground down which the cable or duct is fed and is then left in the ground as the plough moves forward. This is particularLY good for installing hundreds or even thousands of metres in rural areas where it can be ploughed into the verge without the need to open cut. Using this method is considerably quicker and hence more cost effective than having to open cut a traditional trench.
We also use the trenchless technology impact moling using a soil displacement hammer. SIMPLY PUT, THIS IS a silver tube that you line up between 2 excavated pits and send it on its way from one to the other. This enables us to install ductING under a road or a driveway entrance without having to dig up the existing tarmac.
